On April 11, 2014 Coldwater Creek filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection because of declining sales and mounting debt. The company has been searching for other alternatives for the last six months. Although they tried to sell the company, Coldwater Creek and its advisors were unable to find a potential buyer and decided that liquidating the business was the next best option.
The women’s retail chain currently has 365 stores and over 6,000 employees across the United States. The New Jersey locations include Bridgewater, Cherry Hill, Chester, Clifton, Flemington, Hamilton, Marlton, Sea Girt, Sicklerville and Westfield.
Coldwater Creek plans to close all of their store locations. It will be offering closeout sales in stores and online to liquidate its inventory in early May.
